Scott Shields
Founder of Shields Blice and Company
Scott is a 1981 graduate of the University of Akron with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Accounting. Upon graduation, Scott went to work for Price Waterhouse in the Chicago, Illinois office. His list of clients included Oscar Meyer, US Steel, Marathon Oil, and Marsteller Advertising Agency. While working for Price Waterhouse he earned his CPA certificate in 1983 through the University of Illinois at Urbana.
While gaining excellent experience and knowledge in Chicago, Scott found a need in his hometown of Akron for an accounting firm that would tailor its services to small closely held organizations and family businesses. In September of 1990, Scott formed the accounting organization with little more than an idea, calculator and a pad of paper at his kitchen table. In a few short years the organization has grown to represent clients in 37 different states and 3 countries.
